Gloria Ferrer Caves & Vineyards Celebrates its 30th Anniversary
Three Generations of Fine Sparkling Winemaking
In the early 1980s, the Ferrer family left Barcelona, Spain and discovered Sonoma County. José and Gloria Ferrer were not only captivated by the beauty of Carneros, but immediately recognized that the Mediterranean climate, sloping hills and close proximity to the Pacific Ocean would be ideally suited for growing Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, the two most important wine grapes for producing sparkling wine. In 1982, they purchased a 160-acre cattle ranch and planted their new estate to Pinot Noir and Chardonnay vines. As the first sparkling winery in Carneros, Gloria Ferrer Caves & Vineyards opened in 1986.
Gloria Ferrer Produces Exclusive Anniversary Releases
• 2013 Anniversary Rosé
The Anniversary Rosé is an exceptionally versatile wine and will pair with most cuisines. It is an excellent complement to spicy, Asian inspired dishes in particular; try with fresh Spring rolls with a Spicy Sweet Chili Sauce. Will also pair tremendously well with barbecued pork ribs and grilled seafood. The Anniversary Rosé is an outstanding cheese wine, try with a variety of goat cheeses alongside olives or herbed nuts.
• 2014 Jose S. Ferrer Chardonnay
The 2014 JSF Chardonnay pairs exquisitely with crème based dishes. The bright, citrus flavors and lively acidity in this wine adds a bit of a high note to heavy dishes. Pair with chicken fettuccine, poached salmon with caper butter sauce, Dungeness crab or fresh lobster; also very good with Caesar salad. Great with cheeses like a bold epoisses, a delicate chèvre or aged brie.
