Mayo Family Winery
Located in the heart of Kenwood in the beautiful Sonoma Valley, the Mayo Family Winery Reserve Room will surprise and delight you. It’s an unassuming building with a few picnic tables on a lawn out front, but once you get inside, you are in for a delicious, fun, educational treat!
The Mayo Family Winery Reserve Room has recently undergone a complete remodel – a brand new bar spans the back of the room and cushy brown leather couches and chairs are grouped together in seating areas, creating a casual, comfortable vibe. Outdoor seating is also available, weather permitting.
Visitors enjoy views of local vineyards and the Mayacama Mountains while tasting seven reserve wines thoughtfully paired with seven “tapas”-sized bites, prepared by the Mayo Family’s in-house chef and served by friendly, knowledgeable staff. This experience is absolutely delicious, casual, intimate and elegant, without a whiff of pretention.
The menu changes every two months to reflect the seasons and many of the herbs and vegetables featured in the dishes are grown in planters on the property. The wine selection changes frequently as well, depending on availability.
Special dietary requests (vegetarian, gluten free, etc.) are easily accommodated. Large groups, private parties and private events are welcome by reservation and all catering is done in-house.
This is known as one of the best food and wine pairing experiences in the Sonoma Valley.
In fact, employees from other local wineries often come here and refer their guests as well. That says a lot!
Reservations for the Wine & Food Experience are recommended. If you prefer to try the wines without the food pairing, you are also welcome to taste the wines without a reservation.
The Mayo Family Reserve Room is part of the Mayo Family Winery; their main Tasting Room is located just down the road at 13101 Arnold Drive in Glen Ellen, but at the Reserve Room, located at 9200 Sonoma Highway in Kenwood, they focus on the reserve wines and the Wine & Food Experience.
Both of the Mayo properties are family-owned - original founders Henry & Diane Mayo still own the winery, along their son Jeffrey, who is the company’s President.
Mayo Family Winery produces on average about 5000 cases a year, but of those 5000 cases they produce anywhere from 25-45 different wines from year to year, on average about five barrels per varietal. That’s a lot of variety for a small winery!
The wines may only be purchased at the Reserve Room, at the main winery and through their wine club.
