Vina Robles Vineyards & Winery
Swiss Inspired—Paso Grown
Where Old World European Inspiration
Meets New World California Character
Hans Nef, the Swiss co-owner of Vina Robles Vineyards and Winery describes his vision saying: “I want Vina Robles to express a unique balance of European heritage and American opportunity. As individuals, we are rooted in the Old World. As viticulturists and winemakers, we are empowered by the New World.” Nef, along with his long-time friend and partner, Hans R Michel, have captured and blended the best of the old with the new, reflected in their wines, hospitality center, and 3300 seat Vina Robles Amphitheatre. A visit to Vina Robles will inspire and amaze you, capture your imagination, stimulate your senses and soothe your soul.
In the Beginning, There Were Grapes
This year, 2017, marks the 20th anniversary of the initial planting of the first of Vina Robles’ six Paso Robles vineyards. Sustainably farmed and SIP certified, Vina Robles grows over 20 varieties on 1600 planted acres. While growing many traditional grapes such as Syrah, Petite Sirah, Cabernet Sauvignon and others, they also farm grapes that are not as well-known, such as Albarino, Verdelho and Vermentino. Winemaker Kevin Willenborg takes pride in producing offbeat, dynamic, unconventional blends that will tease, tantalize and excite the palate. All of Vina Robles’ wines are from estate-grown grapes, and they offer several tasting options:
The White Wine Tasting: A flight of simply whites, including creative blends and single varietals.
The Estate Tasting: Currently featuring popular whites, reds, blends and single varietals.
The Reserve Tasting: Currently pouring five of Vina Robles’ limited-production wines and most enticing blends.
Taste why Vina Robles’ wines continuously receive accolades and exceptional ratings from the likes of Wine Enthusiast Magazine, Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate, The Tasting Panel and Stephen Tanzer, to name only a few. Visit Vina Robles to sit, sip, enjoy and relax.
After the Grapes
As 2017 marks the important anniversary of the first plantings, it also marks the 10th anniversary of the opening of the 14,000-square-foot California mission-style hospitality center.
Entering the spacious, welcoming building, you will be greeted by the affable concierge, and given any assistance needed to make your visit exceptional. The tasting room is spacious, offering several different seating (or standing) options while you sip and sample the wines along with your tasting attendant. Whatever tasting you choose, the staff will make you feel at home, and welcome you into the family.
Not content to have a 20- and 10-year milestone in 2017, this year also marks the fifth anniversary performance season of the Vina Robles Amphitheatre, bringing together a perfect trifecta of wine, place and music. This state-of-the-art venue presents a concert series, April through November, with world-class entertainers. Seating options vary from a spacious lawn area to box seats. The Amphitheatre offers various food options: Dine at the Plaza Bistro, or pick up snacks and desserts from various food kiosks. Experience a wine country event like no other while sitting under the Paso Robles stars, enjoying wine, food, live music and friendship. (Note: Outside food not allowed inside the venue).
