Eberle Winery’s sustained popularity isn’t surprising. In Paso Robles, Gary is known as the “godfather” of the region. It was in 1982 that he and fellow winemakers Tom Meyer, Tom Martin, and Vic Roberts, and grape grower Herman Schwartz merged their commitments to develop the Paso Robles AVA and popularize the region, which at the time was relatively unknown. Nowadays, Paso Robles is mentioned in the same breath as other wine regions of high esteem. Decades forward, winemaker Chris Eberle, who coincidentally shares Gary’s surname, shares a like mindset for excellent winemaking. He first made wine at Eberle Winery in 2006, but in 2009 he broadened his horizons to roam the world, make wine and immerse himself in his craft in several countries, including South Africa, Germany, New Zealand, Australia and France. Upon returning to work for Gary in 2015, Chris added distinction to the Eberle arsenal of awards by producing even more medal-winning white wines.
